1Discontinued item
By rfid
According to the technical support team at Airlink, this item is discontinued and Airlink does not provide firmware upgrades for discontinued items. This item does not facilitate entering a port number for SMTP servers, like the majority of Airlink products. This product does not have a motion detection feature like other Airlink product.Tech support is not acceptable. First tech support agent recommendation disabled the camera. Evidently Airlink put an inexperienced person on the tech support team who didn’t know the difference between PPOE and static IP. Than the tech support agent left the company and it took 2 weeks for another agent to even respond to tickets. When a new tech support agent responded, his/her recommendation was that I call their toll free tech support. That’s like Amazon recommending to their customers to order product by toll free instead of online.Terrible product and terrible manufacturer.

4A very good network camera
By Lars A. Selen
I am doing this because Amazon.com asked me to. Since this model has been discontinued the review is somewhat redundant.”In its days” this camera also came in a WiFi version. Both the wired and the WiFi versions are easy to set up. It gives a good resolution picture. I have set up to record to a 250 GB USB drive. The recording has a one week turn around.

2barely acceptable – low quality, both hard and software
By S. Mayo
I bought this, because a USB webcam I used before was chewing up much too many resources on the PC it was plugged into. This is a net camera, which means it contains all the processing needed to generate the .jpg image, right in the camera. You configure the camera to send the finished image to a PC, or website, over a wired network. That puts less load on the PC. It’s a big success in that respect.People have railed about the horrors of installing this camera. It’s not as bad as some would say, but it’s not great. Ultimately, if you know what a net camera is, and understand about ip addresses, ports, subnet masks and FTP, you’ll have it up in under an hour. Most of the time is lost because the settings you have to make, while not complicated, are simply not well explained, and sometimes hard to find – the manual explains very little. You may end up doing a certain amount of trial and error. And note I only set it up for FTP, which is generally supposed to be pretty simple. The real failing, the really unforgivable thing, is that the provided software doesn’t seem to have a way to view a continuously streaming image. This means that to focus the camera, you guess at how the focus ring should be set, hit Refresh in your browser, change the ring, Refresh… it’s idiotic and frustrating, and SLOW. Addendum: actually, there is a way to get it to stream. In the viewer application, I had to pick Java instead of Active-X. Why one is single-images, and the other streams, I have no idea.It does what I need, for under 30$, so I’m not going to give it two stars. But between some Engrish in the instructions, and a clumsy installation and control GUI, I can understand why a non-geek would be unhappy with this choice – and why anyone would be unhappy with the focusing provision. But it does the job, and comes with decent mounting hardware.Addendum: down to 2 stars. Under lower light, the image becomes extremely speckled and grainy, much worse than webcams I’ve used that cost less. It’s very pronounced, making the camera borderline useless. Some of it is CCD noise – and some of it is just incorrect pixels. I see the business model here – buy low quality CCD on the cheap, get a fast and dirty offshore software shop to slap together software, get the bare minimum in doc written and translate it poorly, and ship a lot of units – and then drop support for the item. Buyer beware – use it only for well-lit scenes. My needs are pretty basic, but when the camera fails, I’m replacing with something else.
